STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES FOR ACADEMIC COURSE SELECTION

  • 1. Obtain blue Advising Form from departmental office (and Schedule of Classes (newspaper)).
  • 2. Prepare for advising session by
  • a. making appointment with advisor (if that is how your advisor works);
  • b. using curriculum page in catalog, prepare course selections for advisor approval;
  • c. using course descriptions on back of catalog, check pre- and co-requisites for each desired course; and
  • d. prepare twice as many hours as you wish to schedule in case first choices are not available when telephone registering.
  • 3. Bring to advising session
  • a. completed Advising Form,
  • b. catalog,
  • c. up-to-date copy of Curriculum Check Sheet, and
  • d. copy of transcript if transfer or re-entering student.
  • 4. Obtain advisor approval and signature on schedule request; keep blue copy of Advising Form.
  • 5.Take signed Advising Form to departmental secretary for receipt of Permit to Register, which includes the PAC (Personal Access Code) for telephone registration.
  • 6. Prepare for registration for classes by making a note on personal calendar of appointment time for telephone registration.
  • 7. Call in schedule request on appointment date by following directions in the Schedule of Classes (newspaper).
  • Adjust schedule as needed using telephone registration until the last day of Schedule Adjustment (fourth day of classes in fall and spring semesters, second day of classes in summer session).
  • 8. Pay fees according to deadlines printed in the Schedule of Classses (newspaper).
  • 9. Have I.D. picture taken.
  • 10. Arrange for parking if necessary.
